Darren Hayes, former front man for Savage Garden, releases a new pop album that promises to return Darren Hayes to the top of the Charts. Talk Talk Talk is the pre-release for Darren's new project.
SourceDarren Hayes has been flying solo since Savage Garden broke up in 2001, and since that time he has released solo projects that have been a Jazz - Nightclub mix that were a clear departure from the two powerful albums released by Darren Hayes and Daniel Jones with Savage Garden. Although the music in Darren's solo projects is good it was not the sort of work that is going to garner pop radio play because of its focused genre.
Times though are a changing, and Darren is set to release a new album rumored to be titled "Secret Codes and Battleships." Darren has put over two years of work into his latest release and from all accounts the work is paying of for him, Talk Talk Talk was the pre-release single from Darren's up coming album and it is a catchy and contemporary song that show cases Darren's incredible vocal ability. It will be easy to see Talk Talk Talk taking over in the dance clubs given its progressive synthesized beat and catchy chorus.
The first time I heard Talk Talk Talk I struggled with the syncopated dance beat that underscores the verses; however, the chorus is brilliant and on a third and forth listen to the song the syncopation makes much more sense and becomes less noticeable. After listening to the song more than just a few times, the beat gets stuck in your head and the song really delivers. If the rest of Secret Codes and Battleships is as good as Talk Talk Talk look for Darren Hayes to be again selling out stadiums and hogging up radio time.
Ironically with the release of Talk Talk Talk comes news that Billboard has named Savage Garden's Truly Madly Deeply as the number 1 song of all time on the Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart for the past 50 years; not a small feat by any measure. As a musician, I cannot tell you how many times I have been asked to play and sing Truly Madly Deeply at weddings. I for one welcome the return to pop by Darren Hayes, he truly is one of the most gifted vocalists performing today.
